The Grambling State University women’s soccer team got back to its winning ways on Sunday afternoon, earning a hard fought 2-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victory over Alabama A&M at Bulldog Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first half, Grambling State (6-7-2 overall, 3-1-2 SWAC) dominated the stat sheet and possession, placing pressure on Alabama A&M’s (3-8-1, 1-2-1) defense. However, the Lady Tigers couldn’t manage a goal in the first 45 minutes, and went into the half tied 0-0.
- GSU pushed ahead early in the second half, as Mackenzie Rastatter scored her first goal of the season off of an assist from Imogen Fowler, giving the Lady Tigers a 1-0 advantage in the 48th minute.
- Grambling State struck again one minute later when Karlyn Judgedeposited a shot in the back off the net, putting GSU on top 2-0. It was a lead the Lady Tigers wouldn’t relinquish, squelching any opportunity AAMU had down the stretch.
